Who regulates MLOs in Alaska
The Alaska Division of Banking and Securities issues the Alaska Mortgage Loan Originator License under the federal SAFE Act via NMLS. Federally insured depository MLOs register with NMLS as federal registrants and do not hold a state MLO license.
Application steps
- Create your NMLS individual account.
- Complete SAFE-approved pre-licensing education (20-hour national course plus any Alaska-specific hours).
- Pass the SAFE MLO Test with Uniform State Content.
- Order NMLS fingerprints and credit report.
- File the MU4 requesting the Alaska license and pay fees.
- Have a licensed Alaska company file sponsorship on your MU4.
- Respond to license-item requests from Alaska Division of Banking and Securities.
- Receive an Approved status and begin originating.
Annual renewal
