Who regulates MLOs in Idaho
The Idaho Department of Finance issues the Idaho Mortgage Loan Originator License under the federal SAFE Act via NMLS. Federally insured depository MLOs register with NMLS as federal registrants and do not hold a state MLO license.
Application steps
- Create your NMLS individual account.
- Complete SAFE-approved pre-licensing education (20-hour national course plus any Idaho-specific hours).
- Pass the SAFE MLO Test with Uniform State Content.
- Order NMLS fingerprints and credit report.
- File the MU4 requesting the Idaho license and pay fees.
- Have a licensed Idaho company file sponsorship on your MU4.

Annual renewal
