If investor demand keeps building, non-QM lenders and brokers may see more capacity, more competition and a sharper need to qualify borrowers correctly from the first conversation.
The non-QM originations forecast getting attention this week comes from HousingWire’s report that BofA Securities sees $100 billion in non-QM securitization issuance following a record $20.9 billion of non-QM residential mortgage-backed securities in Q3 2025. HousingWire published the report on Sept. 16, 2026, framing non-QM as a growing mortgage investment category tied to RMBS demand.
That matters for producing loan officers because non-QM lending lives and dies on capital markets execution. When securitization demand is strong, lenders may have more reason to compete for well-documented self-employed, investor, asset-based and other non-agency borrowers — but a forecast is not a guarantee of looser guidelines, better pricing or easier approvals.
