Realtor.com Research says the best time to buy a home is the week of Sept. 27-Oct. 3, pointing to the fall stretch when the balance of market conditions is expected to favor buyers most. The research was published Sept. 14, 2026, under the title “The Best Time To Buy a Home Is the Week of Sept. 27 – Oct. 3.”
That matters for loan officers because a lot of buyers who paused during the spring and summer still need a reason to restart the conversation. A named buying window gives lenders, brokers and referral partners a timely, practical touchpoint — as long as it is framed as a seasonal opportunity, not a promise that every buyer will find the perfect home or price cut that week.
